FROM TEXTING TO TALKING

Grade level sessions: Elementary (4 & 5) & Middle School (6, 7, 8)

Person-to-person communication is more difficult for the children in this cellphone / video game and movie world. Kids can become adults who struggle in school relationships and ultimately in the work worlds where skilled communication is essential. This class will cover the basics through interactive games and exercises including:

  • Effective Listening
  • Non-verbal Communication
  • Interpreting and using Visual Clues
  • Clear Verbal Communication
  • Speaking to Adults
  • Speaking on your cellphone
  • Creating cellphone voicemail messages

This class has six, one hour weekly sessions. Call or email for dates & tuition rates. Enrollment is limited to 10 students.

PLAN & PRACTICE / STAND & DELIVER

Pre-requisite: “From Talking to Texting”

Creating & Presenting an Informational Speech

Grade level sessions: Elementary (4 & 5) & Middle School (6, 7, 8)

This SPEAK WRITE UP! class guides the Students to create a clear, verbal presentation via:

  • Idea capture & creation
  • Research, Interviews, & Details
  • Creating Focus
  • Organization & Writing techniques
  • Audience engagement techniques
  • Critiqued practice sessions

This class has four, 1.5 hour sessions. A portion of the last class will be a public presentation of speeches. Call or email for tuition rates. Enrollment is limited to eight students.

SURVIVAL SPEECHES

Pre-requisites: “From Texting to Talking” and “Plan & Practice / Stand & Deliver”

Separate grade level sessions: Grade 5 (by invite)  & Middle School (6, 7, 8)

Building on SPEAK WRITE UP’S “From Texting & Talking” and “Plan & Practice / Stand & Deliver” classes (prerequisites), this class will delve into specific speech types and techniques for writing and presentation. Instruction and coaching includes:

  • Demonstration Speech
  • Persuasive Speech
  • Moving from written word to speech success
  • Working with timing & audience engagement
  • Learning from giving and receving critiques

The class is SIX, 1.5 hour weekly sessions. The last class session will include a public presentation of one of each of the students’ speeches. Call or email for dates & tuition rates. Enrollment is limited to 8 students.

Want to earn extra money for college? Spending money? Something “to do?”

Achieve success- this power-packed information seminar is SO necessary for teens 16 years and above. Through interaction, focused individual skill and potential assessment, and protocol instruction.

This seminar is a MUST for getting that first job and turning it into a fabulous reference for jobs to come and college applications.

  • Creating and writing a resume
  • Learning to convey skills and personality through emails, voicemails, texts, and followup communication
  • Planning and Practicing for the interview
  • Handling your first day “on the job” and communicating with your boss
